Panama forever, my old, modern, vibrant city will live and thrive in spite of all the dirty politics and derogatory comments by ignorant and laughable people. I am planning a trip there this year.

As far as the "gang" violence is concerned, do not worry, Miami and all of Florida is 100% worse than Panama will ever be but you do not have to go to Panama, it's a free country and no one is going to hold a gun to your head and force you to visit. "Ugly" Americans please stay out, good people are always welcome by the polite and beautiful people of Panama; that includes my wonderful family and old friends who always receive me con carino, like I never left.

Go Panama and all of Latin America,
Unidos venceremos!

Your stance is so biased it's humorous. You actually want to compare the safety of Panama City with that of Miami? There's no real "gang violence" problem here in Panama. Who cares about drug busts off the coast. I used to live in Miami. It's crime is ridiculous. Now I live in Panama City. It's probably the safest big city in the Western Hemisphere. In fact, I know of not one soul here that has been the victim of a crime while living here.

Panama City over Miami any day of the week. Like the U.S. itself, Miami is but a has-been place. Panama is the present AND future.

Half of my family are Panamanians and they do say that it is dangerous there, but you have that with pretty much every large city. I went there last summer with my two teenage siblings and we both felt completely safe. You just have to watch yourself, but if you are thinking of buying property I would go for it. There are some fantastic oceanfront deals that will get you carribean beaches, for a fraction of the cost.

So would you buy property in Panama City? I have been looking at realestate there, but my husband said he would never move there because of the drug trafficking and gang violence. By the sounds of what I have been reading though, am I right in saying that the realsestate going up is like a community with all the amenities.

I guess my greatest fear are burglaries and some person holding a gun to my head. We have become so paranoid........

Thank you and have a great day.
